《英雄萨姆》是一个快节奏的第一人称射击游戏，有着多样的武器和怪物，并且游戏的风格另类，颇为幽默。Croteam这次推出的该款续集将上集作品里未登场的关卡都加到了这集里，不过只会占全部内容的一部份。

在新一集作品中增加了7种新的敌人、3种新的武器和12个精彩的单人关卡，玩家将会穿梭于更多奇怪的异形世界之中，改良过的游戏引擎将让整体的贴图数目增加，使人物造型和环境设计更细致，游戏流畅度更高。

另外，开发商Croteam还透露称新的游戏里加入了一些新的破坏效果，譬如一开始玩家就可以抄起码头上的电锯去把周围的大树都伐倒（如果你乐意这么干的话），而游戏的音效则会用上Ogg Vorbis的音乐压缩技术，另外假如玩家鼠标支持的话，将可以从鼠标的震动程度感受到不同的武器所产生的效果……

操作方法很简单：数字键改变武器，空格键跳跃，鼠标控制方向，鼠标左键开火……
